Superior Health Solutions launches medical weight loss program

Program inspired by doctor’s mother’s experience with negative effects of poor diet

HENDERSON, Nev. – Superior Health Solutions, 1661 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway, Ste. 280, has launched a new weight loss program. Robert DeMartino, DC, was inspired to launch the program after working with his own mother to change her eating habits.

DeMartino’s mother, Vera, has battled Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia for 13 years. She had been in remission for 10 years, but recently, for the first since her initial diagnosis, she began to look and act sick. She was still taking her vitamins and DeMartino was still treating her regularly, but something had changed. That something was her diet; comfort foods had begun slipping back in.

Just six weeks after DeMartino identified this and his mother corrected her eating habits, her white blood cell counts dropped 30,000 points. Her numbers actually returned to where they were three years ago. She started feeling well again and is back on the right track.

The experience got DeMartino thinking. While Superior Health Solutions treats multiple ailments, it was established in August to focus on diseases and symptoms many patients and their physicians deem hopeless. The clinic offers care for diseases such as fibromyalgia, neuropathy, restless leg syndrome, balance issues, reflex sympathetic dystrophy, Parkinson’s disease, numbness and carpal tunnel syndrome as well as fatigue, hormone imbalance, thyroid abnormalities, digestive problems, diabetes and autoimmune conditions (such as lupus and multiple sclerosis).

“While we have been thrilled with the results and the way that the cutting edge technologies like light therapy, frequency-specific microcurrent and biological medicines have helped our patients’ health, a glaring weakness became obvious,” DeMartino said. “We weren’t doing enough to address the needs of diet. Even worse, we weren’t answering the biggest question that most of our patients had: ‘How do I lose weight and keep it off?’”

So DeMartino began putting together a program model for doctor-led medical weight loss that met specific guidelines:

1)      No prescription drugs or fake hormones for weight loss. (Too dangerous, DeMartino said.)

2)      No boxed foods loaded with chemicals. (No one will eat those forever, he said, so the weight loss will be temporary.)

3)      The system needed to show people how to eat more powerfully. Just counting calories overlooks the importance of what people eat. (Food does not just provide fuel; it can either heal you or make you sick, DeMartino said.)

4)      The system had to be individualized. (Cookie cutter approaches won’t get patients the results they want, he said.)

5)      Finally, the system had to work really well and fast. It needed to get the weight off quickly and, if followed, keep it off. In a short period of time, for people who would make the commitment, DeMartino wanted to help them achieve the closest thing to a new healthy body that they could.

“We searched and researched and discovered some truly amazing and proven systems, treatments and products – all developed by different health care professionals to result in fast, healthy and safe weight loss,” DeMartino said. “So in the true spirit of the new clinic, we combined all of these treatments in one results-oriented weight loss and functional nutrition program for our patients.”

DeMartino brought on two additional staff members with backgrounds in nutrition to facilitate the program. Each individual’s program will address the specific reason why he/she has not been able to lose weight or keep it off, and staff members will coach and support patients through the entire process so they are not left alone to “figure it all out.”

Additionally, programs will include neurofeedback to handle the emotional component of eating. Neurofeedback allows DeMartino to receive feedback about brain activity and will help him retrain patients’ brains to no longer crave specific “trigger foods.”

Superior Health Solutions is open from 8 a.m. to noon and 3 to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Thursday; 3 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, and 8 a.m. to noon Friday. The office is open on weekends for special events only.

Superior Health Solutions brings diagnostic testing, multiple doctor evaluations and personal care under one roof. The difference is Superior Health Solutions takes the natural approach to diagnosing and solving patients’ maladies instead of the traditional medical approach. The clinic is the brainchild of Robert DeMartino, DC, who leads the clinic in evaluating a patient’s needs, discussing findings and creating the most comprehensive care plan possible to achieve the quickest and most permanent results.
