The Soggy Dog opened just over six years ago, was the first of its kind in Henderson
HENDERSON, Nev. – The Soggy Dog, a do-it-yourself dog wash center and pet supplies store, welcomed Sunshine, a Golden Retriever, as the 40,000th dog to receive a do-it-yourself dog wash this week.
Located at Horizon Ridge and Stephanie in Henderson, The Soggy Dog was the first of its kind in the community when it opened just over six years ago and has been well received by local residents and their furry family members.
“We’ve tried to create a fun, welcoming environment for pet owners to spend quality time with their pets,” said owner Tracy Bosler, who is often asked why dogs should be brought in to her business rather than giving the dog a cleaning in a backyard or bathtub.
“For one, many pet owners live in condos or apartments lacking appropriate facilities or locations to safely wash a dog,” she said. “Additionally, using the backyard hose, for example, provides no temperature control.”
Using the house bathtub has its own set of issues as well. At The Soggy Dog, all tubs are custom designed for pet washing. They are waist high and designed to comfortably allow pet owners to easily wash their dog. The company provides all the equipment and supplies, including blueberry facials, and there is no cleanup of drains, bathroom floors and walls afterward. Between uses, the store’s staff also cleans and sanitizes each tub.
“We see most dogs enjoy their bath at our shop. And pet owners no longer consider the wash such a chore. Just bring in the dirty dog, wash and go!” Bosler said
The store features five tubs, designed to accommodate the smallest to largest breeds of dogs and is committed to providing high-quality, well-researched lines of dog and cat food, primarily focused on natural, organic and holistic foods and treats.
The Soggy Dog was recently recognized as one of three finalists for a national Retailer Excellence Award by Pet Business Magazine and Global Pet Expo in the Customer Service Excellence category.
The Retailer Excellence Awards are designed to honor outstanding independent pet stores that stand out amongst their peers. A committee of officials from Pet Business Media and Global Pet Expo selected the finalists in each category and recognized The Soggy Dog among the best pet businesses for customer service.
