New location offers flat fees, free diagnoses to ease computer repair experience
MACOMB, Mich. – In the past, knowing a good mechanic was gold. Today, people covet good computer repair experiences in much the same way, sharing any diamond-in-the-rough IT professionals with friends and family. Simple Computer Repair wants to be that referral with a new location in Macomb, Mich.
Simple Computer Repair was conceived in Southern Nevada after a poor experience at a big box retailer, where prices were variable, diagnoses were speculative, services were complicated and the customer never really knew exactly what was going on.
Therefore, Simple Computer Repair was created as a neighborhood computer repair store with free diagnoses, flat rates for repair, and house/office calls set with a specific appointment time, not a window. The business model was simple – no guessing, no opinions and simple answers and explanations in layman’s terms. Also, all in-store work is done at the work table in the center of the store for transparency and to decrease potential customer privacy concerns.
It was this business model and company culture that drew Phil Nader to open a Simple Computer Repair franchise in Macomb. Located at 50480 Schoenherr Rd., the Macomb Simple Computer Repair location opened Jan. 15. Business hours are from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.
“It’s simple. It’s easy for customers to understand. It’s a set fee, and it makes it easy. Even the business model was simple,” Nader said. “It’s simple and it’s evolving.”
Nader, from Broomfield Heights, didn’t think anything like this existed. A quick Internet search showed him he was wrong. He and manager Jon Siersma, of Sterling Heights, spent a week at the original Simple Computer Repair location in Henderson, Nev. to learn the company’s values and receive training. Jim Brock, founder of Simple Computer Repair and a Michigan native, was happy to have a location in his home state.
“The market there is prime. The demand is there, but the business to fill that demand wasn’t there,” Brock said. “Until now.”
Nader’s goal is to be the neighborhood one-stop shop for computer, iPod, iPhone, iPad, laptop, game console and flat-screen television/computer monitor repair.
“We continue to evolve,” Brock said. “Our business model is built to last.”
The Macomb location is Simple Computer Repair’s second franchise location. The first opened in May 2013 near Phoenix, Ariz.
Home of the $5 iPhone accessories (cases chargers, ear buds and data cables), Simple Computer Repair’s first location opened in 2008 in Henderson, Nev. and provides repair services for all makes and models of desktops and laptops, Apple iPhones, iPads and iPods; game consoles and flat screen TVs. Today, in addition to the new location in Michigan, there are two locations in the Las Vegas area and one location in Avondale, Ariz., near Phoenix.
