Henderson Chamber of Commerce series welcomes UNLV’s D.J. Allen Feb. 14

HENDERSON, Nev. – The Henderson Chamber’s Thursday, Feb. 14, Roadmap to Success Series workshop will discuss business leadership during “The Xs and Os of Success: A Game Plan for Leaders in Business and Life.”

Featuring D.J. Allen, senior associate athletic director of communications at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, the workshop will take place from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. at the Henderson Business Resource Center, located at 112 S. Water St. in downtown Henderson’s Water Street District.

During the workshop, Allen will discuss how to be a coach in the game of business, how to understand and benefit from the common traits of the nation’s most elite teams and how to be a great leader by building up employees and co-workers.

Allen co-authored “The Xs and Os of Success: A Playbook for Leaders in Business and Life” with then UNLV Men’s Basketball coach Lon Kruger in 2008.

Aside from his duties at UNLV, Allen is chairman-elect of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s Executive Board and he is also the vice president of the Dave Rice Foundation, which supports children with special needs, particularly autism. Allen has spoken to high school students from every state in the nation with his inspirational presentation on acceptance, which focuses on the stories of special needs children.

A native Nevadan, Allen graduated from UNLV with his bachelor’s degree in communications and his MBA. Prior to his work at UNLV, he founded Imagine Marketing of Nevada, now Imagine Communications, in 2000 and served as a partner with the firm until 2011. He also is a 2002 graduate of Leadership Henderson.

The Roadmap to Success Workshop Series covers all aspects of business critical for business owners to understand and properly execute to stay afloat, especially when times are tough. The series began in September and continues through May. It is comprised of 16 workshops covering topics including finance, human resources, law, marketing, and operations, sales and technology.

The workshop series is sponsored by the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, the City of Henderson, Imagine Communications, Nevada State Bank and Prism Global Management Group.
