Raffle, silent auction to benefit El Salvador medical mission takes place

Items up for auction include slot machines, piano, more

LAS VEGAS – Each year a small group of volunteers from Community Lutheran Church fly down to El Salvador on a medical mission. The mission provides medical care, medications and ministry to more than 1,000 people from several indigent villages throughout El Salvador.

This weekend, the mission will host a raffle/silent auction to benefit the people of El Salvador. All funds brought in from the raffle/silent auction will be used to purchase medical items and vitamins for a year for 300 kids.

Items up for auction include two slot machines, two seats on the “Wind Dancer” Helicopter Flight, a Neil Diamond Jacket with autographed photograph, a piano and more.

Items up for raffle include a guitar, a his/her watch set and more.

The raffle/silent auction began last weekend and will take place again this weekend, May 29 and 30, during church services (Saturday: 5-6 p.m. and Sunday: 8 a.m. to noon) at Community Lutheran Church – located at 3720 E. Tropicana Ave. just west of Sandhill Rd.

Raffle tickets cost $1 each. Anyone who buys $10 worth of tickets receives five free tickets.

Community Lutheran Church was first established in 1973 to meet the spiritual needs of the residents of Paradise Valley in Las Vegas and to provide opportunities for people to worship, study and pray. It has more than 3,500 members.
