NV Energy to present Henderson Libraries with $279,972 check

Paseo Verde Library recipient of 100-Kilowatt Photovoltaic Solar Array Project

NV Energy will present a $279,972 check to Henderson Libraries at 10 a.m. Tuesday, July 29, in support of the 100-Kilowatt Photovoltaic Solar Array Project at Paseo Verde Library, made possible by the NV Energy Renewable Generations Program. The project finished construction in May and, as a result, the library is estimated to see $13,000 a year in energy savings (at today’s current power rates).

The check presentation will take place at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, in the Conference Room.

Matthew Hortt, head of adult services for Gibson Library, led the project to completion and will accept the check on behalf of the Henderson Libraries.

The endeavor got underway last June, when Henderson Libraries was notified it had been awarded a maximum eligible incentive payment of $279,972 to be used toward the purchase and construction of a solar array. To ensure the project could be completed, the Henderson Libraries Foundation also provided an additional $10,000 for construction costs.

The system will include a public display data component, which will show the energy production and savings generated on electronic display monitors at the Paseo Verde Library.
