Henderson Libraries’ digital magazine rentals available for computers, smart phones
HENDERSON, Nev. – From turning the page to swiping the screen, reading technology is rapidly updating, and the ability to have digital access to reading materials is in high demand. Henderson Libraries is now offering Zinio, a free online service that allows users to read magazines in a digital format.
Currently, the library is subscribed to about 80 magazines, including popular titles like Cosmopolitan, ESPN, Rolling Stone, Martha Stewart Living and more. Using the barcode on the back of a Henderson library card and a password, patrons can access digital versions of their favorite magazines from their computer, tablet or smart phone anytime, anywhere.
The Green Valley Library will hold classes at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20 and at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 demonstrating how to use Zinio, as well as how to download Henderson Libraries’ e-books, audio books and other e-media into a computer or device. The Paseo Verde Library will also offer adult computer classes that demonstrate how to sign in and access digital magazines with Zinio at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 25, and at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30.
To get started with Zinio, patrons can log on to www.mypubliclibrary.com, click the “Downloads” button at the top center of the page and find Zinio toward the bottom. There are links to download mobile apps as well as a link to access Zinio on the computer.
Users must have a Henderson Libraries account to access the digital magazines. For additional help with downloading and using Zinio, a user guide and video are available. After creating an account with Zinio, users can download the app on their smart phone or tablet, log in and begin reading.
