New chief technology officer joins staff at NEMIC

Soph Davenberry has joined the staff at the National Energy Management Institute Committee (NEMIC) as the chief technology officer upon the retirement of Davor Novosel.

Davenberry comes to NEMIC from Hermanson Company, LLP, in Kent, Washington, where she had served as testing, adjusting and balancing (TAB) manager since 2017. Prior to Hermanson, Davenberry spent nearly a decade with Neudorfer Engineers as a lead systems field engineer.

Beginning her sheet metal career as an apprentice in 1996 in commercial heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) and general sheet metal, Davenberry expanded her skills to study TAB in 2004. She has been a member of Local 16 in Portland, Oregon, and maintains her current membership at Western Washington Sheet Metal Local 66.

“I’ve always been a passionate lifelong learner,” said Davenberry. “I look forward to revisiting all the training I have and giving back to our industry through this new role.”

In her position as chief technology officer, Davenberry will be responsible for identifying new technologies, market developments and trends for technicians and contractors. She holds multiple technician and supervisory certifications from the Testing, Adjusting and Balancing Bureau (TABB), the Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) and municipal entities.

A graduate of South Seattle College and New College of Florida, Davenberry holds two bachelor’s degrees.

Active in her Seattle community, Davenberry serves as the chair for the Westside Unitarian Universalist Congregation (WSUU) Building Committee where she helps coordinate volunteers and professional services to maintain its 13,000-square-foot facility. She also serves on the WSUU audio-visual committee to assist the music director with presentations for worship services.

“I’m excited to welcome Soph to our NEMIC family,” said David Bernett, NEMIC administrator. “Her zest for knowledge is evident when you speak with her. I think that passion will help NEMIC as we continue to evaluate and enhance our offerings.”

The National Energy Management Committee (NEMIC), a not-for-profit organization, is jointly funded by the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors’ National Association(SMACNA) and SMART, the International Association of Sheet Metal Air, Rail and Transportation Workers (formerly the Sheet Metal Workers’ International Association). NEMIC identifies opportunities, seeking to create or expand employment for SMART members and programs that assist SMACNA contractors.
