Salehian of state Treasurer’s Office to discuss ‘Building a More Educated Workforce: The 529 College Savings Program’
Shelia Salehian, deputy treasurer for the Nevada State Treasurer’s Office, will present “Building a More Educated Workforce: The 529 College Savings Program” tomorrow, Jan. 10, at the Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s January network breakfast at Sunset Station, 1301 W. Sunset Road. The breakfast will take place from 7 — 9 a.m., and Salehian will speak at approximately 7:50 a.m.
The State Treasurer’s Office has many 529 College Savings Program choices to help families save in a tax-advantaged way for their child’s future higher education needs. Employers will also learn about a recent Senate Bill, SB412, which offers a modified business tax credit to certain employers who match their employee’s contributions into a Nevada 529 College Savings Plan.
In addition to administrative management, Salehian oversees the Nevada Prepaid Tuition program as well as marketing/outreach for the numerous 529 College Savings Plans offered by the state. She is also responsible for driving financial literacy education efforts for the state Treasurer’s Office and is the designated liaison to community nonprofit organizations working in partnership with the public sector to rollout programs such as the annual Women’s Money Conferences in Nevada.
