Henderson Chamber to welcome Derrick, his vision for city’s future
HENDERSON, Nev. – The Henderson Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly networking breakfast, “City Manager’s View: A Premier Vision for Henderson’s Future,” presented by Henderson City Manager Richard Derrick, from 7 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 14, at Sunset Station, 1301 W. Sunset Road in Henderson.
During the presentation, Derrick will discuss his vision for maintaining Henderson’s status as a premier community and outline recent changes in his leadership team. He will also highlight the city’s successful economic development and redevelopment efforts, including attracting the Raiders to build its new corporate headquarters in West Henderson. He also will highlight the benefits of sound fiscal stewardship and the steps taken to streamline the process for businesses to locate and operate in Henderson as well as the increased investment into local schools and a focus on student achievement and public safety.
Derrick was sworn in as city manager for the City of Henderson in July after serving as the interim city manager for five months. Previously, he was the assistant city manager/chief financial officer for Henderson since 2013. As chief executive officer, Derrick oversees a values-based organization that implements City Council-prioritized short- and long-term strategies to accomplish the city’s mission and vision.
