All presents to benefit less fortunate children in the community
HENDERSON, Nev. – Macy Magdaleno, 8, will host her 9th birthday party in the food court of the Galleria at Sunset mall at 1p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16. However, this is no typical birthday party. Macy will donate all the gifts she receives to Toys for Tots, a nonprofit charity that donates new, unwrapped toys to less fortunate children in the community during the holiday season.
This is the fourth year Macy has used her birthday to give back to other children. When she turned 6, she asked her mom about giving gifts to other kids rather than receiving gifts for herself. From friends and family alone, she has been able to donate 135 presents over the past three years to Toys for Tots. This year, she hopes to donate more by inviting the public to celebrate her birthday and bring donations.
“The Galleria at Sunset is happy to give a local girl the opportunity to give back on a larger scale,” said Heather Valera, marketing director for Galleria at Sunset. “We hope that Macy can help even more children in the community this year.”
Macy’s party will last until 3 p.m., and the public may drop off their donated presents at any point during the party.
Toys for Tots will accept donations in many locations throughout the valley during the month of November. For more information and toy drop off locations, visit www.ToysForTots.org.
