Event also highlights project with Brown Junior High School music program
HENDERSON, Nev. – Leadership Henderson and its class of 2013 will host a Holiday Blitz from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, at Republic Kitchen and Bar, 9470 S. Eastern Ave., to collect toys for Toys for Tots and raise funds for the class of 2013’s project.
Tickets are $10 for members and non-members. All attendees are asked to bring a new, unwrapped toy, which will be donated to Toys for Tots. The primary goal of Toys for Tots is to deliver, through a new toy at Christmas, a message of hope to less fortunate youngsters that will assist them in becoming responsible, productive, patriotic citizens.
Among other events and projects throughout the year, each Leadership Class has been asked to perform a project to benefit the Henderson Community. This year’s project will benefit the Brown Junior High School music program by providing fundraising, awareness and resources for sustainability.
At the Holiday Blitz event, local business professionals can mingle while supporting a good cause. A raffle and appetizers will also be offered, and happy hour drinks will be available for purchase.
Leadership Henderson is a non-profit organization that operates under the Henderson Chamber of Commerce Foundation. The program’s class of 2013 includes 24 community and business leaders who will receive more than 30 hours of professional leadership development training, which began in October and will continue through May.
Leadership Henderson is governed by the Henderson Chamber Foundation Board and guided by a steering committee. The majority of the participants have been identified and recruited by alumni of the program and all were chosen through a selective application and interview process.
