Funeral services company offers online funeral planning, uses virtual office to go to customers
LAS VEGAS – Virtual office and high-tech are not usually associated with funeral homes. However, Kraft-Sussman Funeral Services is not the usual funeral home.
When they opened Kraft-Sussman in 2009, Wendy Kraft and Laura Sussman wanted to reinvent the way funeral homes work with families and to make this experience as comfortable as possible.
“We knew that many people don’t like the thought of going into a funeral home,” Sussman said. “We felt it would be an easy step for us to go to them, to meet people in the comfort of their own home or other venue.”
In today’s culture, many funeral and memorial services are done at a house of worship, at a cemetery or even a casino.
“If a family doesn’t use our chapel for a service, they don’t have to come to the funeral home at all,” Sussman added.
In addition to their traditional funeral home office, Kraft and Sussman have a virtual office they take to meet with individuals who wish to do advance planning or need to make immediate arrangements after a loved one has died. When meeting out of the office, they bring a laptop, all of the forms, as well as photos of caskets and other merchandise.
In addition to their virtual office, their website, www.kraftsussman.com, allows individuals to preplan a funeral online. A simple, secure form gathers the pertinent information and Kraft or Sussman will follow up with a phone call and visit to finalize wishes.
“We know people are busy,” Sussman said. “Las Vegas is a 24-hour town, and everyone doesn’t have the option to do funeral planning between 9 and 5. Our online form allows people to plan according to their timeframe, in the privacy of their own home.”
Owned and operated by two mothers, the full-service Kraft-Sussman does everything in its power to make planning a loved one’s funeral is easy as possible on those left behind. The company’s services include arranging the burial or cremation, hosting and arranging all aspects of the funeral and/or memorial, world-wide shipping, advance planning and anything else its customers can think of. While Kraft-Sussman is a Jewish-owned business, the funeral services company can accommodate funerals for any religion. The independently owned company is also the only certified Veterans & Family Memorial Care Provider in Clark County. The company is also the only certified green funeral home in Southern Nevada.
