Henderson welcomes new surgical recovery center

Suites offer care, new boost to city’s medical community

HENDERSON, Nev. – Over the past decade, the City of Henderson’s Economic Development/Redevelopment Division has taken great strides to grow Southern Nevada’s medical community.

This week, the City of Henderson will celebrate the opening of its newest world-class medical center, established by Dr. Michael Crovetti, the Coronado Surgical Recovery Suites – located at 2779 W. Horizon Ridge Parkway at Crovetti Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in Henderson. The facility will celebrate its grand opening from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 30.

The opening of the surgery recovery center adds to Southern Nevada’s growing number of world-class medical treatment facilities that draw patients from throughout the country, but especially from Arizona, California and Utah.

“The addition of the Coronado Surgical Recovery Suites helps to diversify our economy in Henderson even more and adds to the top level medical care found in our city,” said Bob Cooper, economic development/redevelopment manager for the city of Henderson. “The fact patients come from neighboring states for the quality care is a bonus and provides an economic boost for businesses in the area.”

For patients who receive total knee and hip replacement surgery and meet the criteria for outpatient joint replacement, the recovery suites offer a three-day recovery experience, private room, personalized physical therapy, 24-hour nursing, person nutrition, surgeon and internal medicine oversight and education to transitioning recovery to the home. Because the stay is classified as a recovery room versus a hospital, the insurance costs are lower.

Crovetti worked directly with Cooper to make the dream of the Coronado Surgical Recovery Suites a reality.

“I’d worked with Bob Cooper and the City of Henderson to develop a world recognized surgical training facility called MERIN in Henderson five years ago,” Crovetti said. “He and the City made things as easy as possible for us and provided so much support on that project that, when we decided it was time to open a nationally groundbreaking surgical recovery facility, we knew exactly who we wanted to work with to make that happen. The city of Henderson values medicine and was willing to do what it took to make this project happen. We couldn’t be more pleased to be part of this business and medical community.”

The City’s Economic Development Division is available to work closely and confidentially with businesses considering relocation or expansion projects and provides services free of charge.  Their role is to serve as a key member of the team and assist in a variety of ways. Assistance may include introductions to employment and training providers, community leaders and business contacts, identifying potential incentive programs, site/community tours, providing economic or demographic information, confidential real estate searches and facilitating meetings with regulatory agencies.
