Henderson Libraries to host second Local Author’s Showcase

Event to feature panel featuring former LV Mayor Oscar Goodman March 28

HENDERSON, Nev.  – Henderson Libraries will host the second Local Author’s Showcase from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 28, at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, near the 215 Beltway. Along with a writers’ panel and a workshop, more than 70 authors will be selling, signing and discussing their books at booths located around the library.

The event will begin with the morning showcase from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., followed by an author panel starring former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman, author of “Being Oscar: From Mob Lawyer to Mayor of Las Vegas,” and Geoff Schumacher, author of “Sun, Sin and Suburbia” and “Howard Hughes: Power, Paranoid and Palace Intrigue.” The panel will be moderated by Brian Rouff, author of “Dice Angel” and “Money Shot” and partner with Imagine Communications. The afternoon showcase will run from 1 to 3 p.m., followed by “How to Market Your Book,” a workshop with author Morgan St. James.

“This event is a great way for the library to support the local writing community as well as continue the success of last year’s event,” said Lisa Phelan, head of adult services at Paseo Verde Library. “We love to support home-grown talent, and create awareness of the works of the authors who live and write about the community where they live.”
