Henderson Chamber workshop to focus on energy efficiency

Southwest Gas, NV Energy experts to speak during Roadmap to Success Oct. 23

HENDERSON, Nev. – Ryland Whitaker, energy utilization engineer with Southwest Gas, and Jon Trabert, operation’s manager with NV Energy’s Sure Bet Program, will present “Energy Efficiency 101 – Electric, Natural Gas and Water – Start Saving Money Now!” as part of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s Roadmap to Success workshop series from 7:30 to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 23 at the Henderson Business Resource Center, located at 112 S. Water St. in downtown Henderson’s Water Street District.

During the presentation, Whitaker and Trabert will discuss and advise business owners how to reduce their energy bills, increase their bottom line and conserve Nevada’s precious resources.

Whitaker holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and joined Southwest Gas in 2005, where he leads energy efficiency training and promotes non-traditional uses of natural gas technology. Whitaker is a licensed professional engineer in Nevada and Arizona and serves on the executive boards of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers and the Southern Nevada Fleet Association.

Trabert has extensive experience in Demand Side Management (DSM) and Energy Efficiency program design and implementation. His career spans more than 35 years managing a sales and marketing team for a Fortune 1000 manufacturing company, a power public utility and DNV GL.

The Roadmap to Success Workshop Series covers all aspects of business critical for business owners to understand and properly execute to stay afloat, especially when times are tough. The series began in September and continues through May. It is comprised of 16 workshops covering topics including finance, human resources, law, marketing, and operations, sales and technology.

The workshop series is sponsored by the City of Henderson.
