Clark County School District superintendent to introduce ‘Pledge of Achievement’
HENDERSON, Nev. – Pat Skorkowsky, superintendent of the Clark County School District, will be the guest speaker during the Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s network breakfast from 7 to 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 9.
The event will take place at Sunset Station’s Sunset Room, 1301 W. Sunset Road, in Henderson. During the breakfast, Skorkowsky will present “Pledge of Achievement: One Community. One Commitment.”
The Clark County School District created the Pledge of Achievement for parents and non-parents alike to commit to supporting a higher level of achievement in schools. The pledge promises commitment to actively engaging in the issues; taking action and as a parent or business person; and being involved in key programs and initiatives.
Skorkowsky began as a first-grade teacher in the school district before rising through the ranks to the position of superintendent in 2013. He earned his bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Oklahoma State University and his master’s degree in education administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. He has served as an elementary school assistant principal at Eisenberg, Kahre and Bracken elementary schools and as principal at French Elementary School and White Middle School, and he was chosen to open Del Web Middle School.
The Clark County School District is the fifth-largest school district in the country with more than 311,000 students and 357 schools.

Cost for the breakfast is $25 for members and $45 for nonmembers; there is an additional charge of $10 for walk-ins. The last day to RSVP is Friday, Sept. 5. Cancellations are required by the RSVP deadline to receive a refund. RSVPs can be made online at hendersonchamber.com.
