Sept. 23-25 event to coincide with City of Henderson’s Super Run
HENDERSON, Nev. – The Henderson Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Andy Hafen and the City of Henderson are hosting the kick off to the national 2010 Fireball Run Adventurally & its Race to Recover America’s Missing Children Thursday, Sept. 23 through Saturday, Sept. 25.
The annual event has partnered with the KlaasKids Foundation in the Race to Recover America’s Missing Children, which has already aided in the recovery of 32 missing kids in the United States. Each team will rally across the country with one missing child featured on their car and distribute fliers along the entire 3,500 mile, 18-city route to raise awareness.
Similar to the popular television show, “The Amazing Race,” the nine-day interactive rally will feature clues to secret destinations and missions. The teams will earn points based on the successful accomplishment of their assigned missions as well as speed on several closed course track events. A winner will be named during a banquet at the end of the race in Galena, Ill.
Fireball Run is sanctioned by the United States Auto Club Racing. The three-day event in Henderson will feature 75 teams all staying at Loews at Lake Las Vegas – located at 101 Montelago Blvd. in Henderson. Competition teams are comprised of successful industry leaders from around the country. Some notable participants include legendary Lamborghini test driver Valentino Balboni direct from Italy; CNN Commentator Marc Klaas, founder of the Klaas Kids Foundation; Jacques Milon, CEO LuxuryLifestyle.com; Kevin Miller, president of the United States Auto Club; and the founder of global event GayDays, Chris Manley.
A VIP party will be held on Thursday, Sept. 23, from 5-7 p.m. for the racing teams and the members of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce. The party will be held in conjunction with the Henderson Chamber’s September mixer.
A series of race competition events will take place in Henderson and the Las Vegas Speedway during the kick-off for the Fireball Run. Teams will also go through registration and vehicle inspection then attend an official kick-off party in downtown Henderson as part of the annual Super Run. Mayor Andy Hafen will drop the green flag, signaling the beginning of the actual race at 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 25, on Water Street in Downtown Henderson.
