Roadmap to Success covers topics critical to businesses’ success, includes sales, & marketing, law, finance and business operations
HENDERSON, Nev. – 2008 was not a “good year.” Understanding that it’s a chamber’s duty to provide its members with support and assistance at times like these, the Henderson Chamber put together its first Roadmap to Success workshop series to help its members stay in business with the full understanding the when a difficult economy emerges, businesses need a chamber of commerce’s support more than ever.
It quickly became clear that 2009 wouldn’t be a good year either. The chamber took what it had learned from its first workshop series and made it better. Programming on everything from attracting new business, to retaining and growing their current client or customer base and running their business as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible was included. The series is an ongoing hit with Southern Nevada’s business community.
This year, for its 3rd annual Roadmap to Success, the chamber has added a law component to the series that already covered marketing, sales/operations and finance. Attendees walk away with nuggets of information provided by experts that will help businesses learn to make small corrections and improvements on their own to remain competitive in the market.
“Small businesses make-up the lion share of our community, which means it’s vital for us – as a business support organization – to provide real business solutions to those professionals out there who are wearing a variety of ‘hats’ to ensure their business runs smoothly during this difficult time,” said Alice Martz, president and CEO for the chamber. “Doing day-to-day business is already tough enough without factoring in reduced staff sizes and thinning revenues streams.”
In fact, added Martz, a majority of last year’s workshop series filled up to capacity on a regular basis. According to Martz, the chamber has even attracted new members as a result of the program adding that the cost of the workshop attendance by chamber members, which is free, far outweighs the cost for non-members to attend, $25 per workshop ($575 for the series).
The 23-part series is sponsored by the Henderson Chamber of Commerce, the City of Henderson and Imagine Marketing.
The Henderson Business Resource Center, the venue which hosts the series, is a nonprofit organization under the Henderson Chamber of Commerce Foundation designed as a business incubator to strengthen and diversify the local economy.
