Small business owners can participate in ‘Silver State Health Insurance Exchange and the Affordable Care Act’ presentation Feb. 6

HENDERSON, Nev. – The Henderson Chamber of Commerce will host the presentation and informational forum, “Silver State Health Insurance Exchange and the Affordable Care Act,” from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Roseman University, 11 Sunset Way, in Henderson.

It is important that business owners and their employees understand the Affordable Care Act and the benefits of the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange program. The Henderson Chamber’s panel of experts will share with attendees how the new health care reform law will impact their businesses.

The discussion will include C.J. Bawden, communications officer at the Silver State Health Insurance Exchange, a government entity committed to creating a business friendly environment for the simple purchase of health insurance, Tim Gaudette, western outreach manager of the Small Business Majority, a national nonprofit organization focused on solving the biggest problems facing the nation’s 28 million small businesses and Scott Heinze, director of business development and government affairs with Saint Mary’s Health Plans, an insurance company that offers a variety of HMO, PPO, POS and consumer driven plan options for group health care coverage throughout Nevada.

Bawden brings expertise in directing large companies as well as a background in business start-up and market share acquisition to the Exchange. He served 14 years in the private sector before joining the Exchange and was the past president and served on the board of directors for the Builders Association of Western Nevada.

In his job covering the needs of Colorado, Nevada and other western states, Gaudette works to build and maintain relationships with small business owners, organizations and foundations. His background in small business and finance and investment-related work helps him relate and understand the needs of owners in his region.

As director of government affairs Heinz coordinates all regulatory and legislative activities for the health plan, including the oversight and implementation of the Affordable Care Act. In his role as director of strategic business development, he is tasked with creating innovative solutions and products that are the direct result of ACA, including Health Insurance Exchange options.
