Endorsements made by chamber’s PAC
HENDERSON, Nev. – The Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s Issues Mobilization Political Action Committee (IMPAC) has finalized its endorsements for Henderson’s Municipal primary elections, which will take place Tuesday, April 7. Early voting begins Saturday, March 21. The general election is scheduled for Tuesday, June 2.
IMPAC serves as a comprehensive, non-partisan political action committee that contributes to the creation of a favorable business climate in Henderson as it relates to issues at the state and local level. The advisory committee of IMPAC, which is independent of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce staff, conducted candidate interviews and made the subsequent endorsements.
This year, Wards 1, 2 and 4 have candidates on the ballot. IMPAC interviewed each of the eight candidates on Friday.
Based on the findings and conclusions of IMPAC, the Henderson Chamber of Commerce endorses:
- Gerri Schroder – Henderson City Council, Ward 1
- Debra March – Henderson City Council, Ward 2
- Derek Uehara – Henderson City Council, Ward 4
“The chamber’s political action committee felt it was important to begin endorsing in the Henderson council and mayoral races with the understanding that those elected will have an impact on the economic growth of our city,” said Tim Brooks, IMPAC chair. “It is an important responsibility of the organization to endorse candidates who see the benefits of protecting and furthering local business interests, small business in particular.”
IMPAC’s mission is toencourage the protection and enhancement of constitutional liberties; promote the good citizenship of the Henderson Chamber of Commerce members through personal and financial participation in the state and local elective process; and any additional areas of government policy or regulation the Henderson Chamber of Commerce encourages, promotes or opposes.
