Last year’s festivities raised $21,000 to benefit Henderson Libraries
HENDERSON, Nev. – Friends of Henderson Libraries will host its 7th annual Library Tree Lane beginning Nov. 16 at the Paseo Verde Library located at 280 S. Green Valley Parkway, just south of I-215.
A holiday-themed fundraising project by Friends of Henderson Libraries to benefit Henderson Libraries, Library Tree Lane features decorated holiday trees and wreaths for sale, children’s programs and a special Carr Chat. The celebration culminates with a ticketed gala reception and silent auction from 7-10 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3. Tickets are $25 and can be purchased by calling 702-492-6584. All events associated with Library Tree Lane will take place at the Paseo Verde Library.
“We’re very excited for this year’s festivities,” said Laura Jane Spina, co-chairperson of the Library Tree Lane Steering Committee. “With the generosity of the valley’s residents and businesses, we hope to top last year’s proceeds and help build the juvenile materials collection for grades three through six at Henderson Libraries. We always welcome new sponsors.” In 2009, Library Tree Lane helped raise $21,000.
The gala reception features a silent auction with nearly 150 beautifully decorated, themed gift baskets, live entertainment, holiday fare, and wine. Guest authors Steven Kalas and Carolyn Schneider are expected to attend along with the evening’s host Père Noel.
Bob and Alison Kasner are the honorary co-chairs for 2010 Library Tree Lane. In addition to the gala reception, this year’s festivities include a showcase of decorated trees at the Paseo Verde Library from Nov. 16 to Dec. 3 during normal business hours, a Holiday Carr Chat at noon on Friday, Nov. 19, with best-selling authors Robyn Carr and Robin Burcell, and children’s programs, including one featuring Santa at 6 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2. Registration is required for the children’s program, call 702-492-6581.
Following the gala reception, the decorated trees will be delivered to local charities designated by the tree sponsors. Complete details are available at www.hdplfriends.org.
