Fratello Marionettes to take part in Henderson Libraries’ annual Summer Reading Program

‘The Ugly Duckling’ one of three tales to be told during ‘The Carnival of Animals’

HENDERSON, Nev.Storytime is always a favorite for children at Henderson Libraries, but during the Summer Reading Program, a special storytime program is scheduled to educate and delight an audience.

Fratello Marionettes will perform “Carnival of the Animals,” a fanciful score featuring three classic storybook tales: “Three Little Pigs,” “Tortoise and the Hare” and “The Ugly Ducking.”

Using a unique performing style, the puppet and puppeteer are seen in full view of the audience on a raised stage. The 45-minute program is perfect for children and families.

“Carnival of the Animals” can be seen on Wednesday, June 23, at 1:30 p.m. at the Green Valley Library – located at 2797 N. Green Valley Pkwy. on the corner of Sunset Road. It can also be seen at 4 p.m. that same day at the Malcolm Library – located at 2960 Sunridge Heights Pkwy. near Seven Hills Pkwy.

Two more shows can be seen on Thursday, June 24, at 9:30 a.m. at the Galleria Library – located in Galleria at Sunset at 1300 W. Sunset Road – and at 4 p.m. at the Paseo Verde Library – located at 280 S. Green Valley Pkwy. near the I-215.

Henderson Libraries is encouraging locals of all ages to “make a splash” this summer with its 2010 Summer Reading Program. 

The Libraries’ annual program offers incentives for children, teens and adults. The Summer Reading Program lasts from June 5 through Aug. 7. Kids age 11 and younger will take part in the “Make a splash at your library” reading program, while youth age 12-18 will take part in the “Make waves” program and adults ages 18 and older will take part in the “Dive into reading at your library” reading program. Themed programs will be offered for all age groups throughout the summer months as part of the program.

Established in 1943 as a single library in Downtown Henderson, Henderson Libraries operates six locations throughout Henderson.
