Community to show support for first responders during Jan. 9 rally

National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day event to feature music, food trucks

In conjunction with National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day (LEAD), a group of community members has organized to present a local LEAD Sea of Blue Rally from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 9. Taking place at Police Memorial Park, 3250 Metro Academy Way, the event will be peaceful and upbeat to thank first responders for all they do.

The Las Vegas Honor Guard, Emerald Society Bagpipes, Law Enforcement Police Protective Agency, the Sheriff’s office, the K-9 Unit and many officers from all agencies are scheduled to attend. More than 1,000 people are expected to attend, as the event is free and open to the public. Participants of all ages are encouraged to wear blue to show their support for law enforcement.

The event will include guest speakers such as City of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman, Councilman Stavros Anthony and Clark County Commissioner Larry Brown; representatives from various departments and agencies; and music and food trucks including Dragon Grille, Spud Shots and More, Funnel Cake Café and Grouchy John’s Coffee.

*Space at the park is limited, but parking will be available on Metro Academy Way and on Isaac Newton Street as well as the Challenger School parking lot.
