CARSON CITY, Nev.  – The Henderson Chamber of Commerce’s legislative delegation traveled to Carson City Feb. 14 to meet with legislators regarding issues important to the organization’s nearly 1,300 member’s businesses, most primarily being small businesses.

With a focus on economic development, the delegation discussed policy perspectives that foster economic growth, jobs and new opportunities for members. Workforce development as well as emphasizing the chamber’s support of an appropriation of capital funds to assist local colleges and addressing minimum wage recommendations and various tax and regulation issues were also matters discussed during a series of day-long meetings with legislators.

“It is important for the Henderson Chamber to continue to build relationships with our state’s elected leaders as their decisions impact our business community,” said Scott Muelrath, Henderson Chamber of Commerce president and CEO. “Being involved with the legislative process not only keeps our members connected to issues, it creates an avenue for our chamber to share the concerns of our members with our state leaders.”

The Henderson Chamber of Commerce Delegation summed up the day of meetings with a legislative reception, hosted at the Governor’s Mansion, sponsored by Emerald Island Casino, Sansone Companies, CenturyLink and Southwest Gas.

Delegates in attendance included Muelrath and Amber Stidham, Henderson Chamber of Commerce; Aviva Gordon, Gordon Law; John Hawk, Nevada State High School; Rob Buckel, I Want My Two Dollars; Katie Ryan, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals/Dignity Health; Matt Parkins, Martin-Harris Construction; Wanda Shumar, Bank of George; Tim Brooks, Emerald Island Casino; Bob Anderson, Snell and Wilmer; and Devon Sansone, Sansone Companies.
